Encompassing the diverse and engaged community across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the City of Sydney (western part), Inner West Council, Canterbury-Bankstown (Canterbury part), Canada Bay, Burwood and Strathfield, Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) provides care for >670,000 local residents, across a 126km2 densely populated district.
Its 12,000 strong staff provide care services out of its principal referral hospitals at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) & Concord Repatriation General Hospital, major metro hospital at Canterbury, aged care & rehab specialist hospital at Balmain & Tertiary oral health facility at Sydney Dental Hospital, along with its numerous comprehensive community-based health services linked with primary care providers.
We are seeking an experienced healthcare Chief Executive, someone acutely aware of the complex and unique challenges that the public health system is facing and will enable a proactive, innovative and collaborative approach to navigating this. The appointed candidate will continue to promote and foster investment in its staff and community, promoting an environment of education, learning and opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow to advance their careers. Investment in its existing infrastructure is also occurring across its numerous sites.
This opportunity represents a unique chance as new CE to lead a high performing, influential organisation through a challenging yet exciting next phase, continuing to refine and build off its current strong foundations.
Role Outline
The Chief Executive (CE) provides pivotal and strategic leadership, management and direction to the Sydney Local Health District and in conjunction with the Board, is responsible for sound governance of the Local Health District to ensure the District meets its statutory, operating and reporting requirements. The Chief Executive is also tasked with ensuring the LHD delivers agreed services within an approved budget, in line with strategic objectives and specified performance standards.

This is an ongoing, full time, Band 3, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $426,496 to $474,701 per annum (SOORT 2023) will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
